What a nice day here in our nation's capital

The last day of summer has been a beautiful day. Poor Bert went to work while I went to a Washington National's game, where the team lost to San Diego, clinching the title for the worst team in the nation! Go Nats! Oh well, our staff were in a swanky suite, guests of one of the Wa DC law firms with lunch and beer and prime seats. It was my first trip to the stadium since in opened in last spring. Its beautiful today, 82 and a breeze, just the way a summer day should be. Not 98 and sticky, like it was last Sunday when Rachel was here and we melted at the county fair.

So by now I think I have gotten the news to everyone about the new tumor and the imminent lose of my good friend Righty. I am coping well, maybe I will fall apart next week when we get closer to going to the hospital, but right now it is OK, and I am happy with the plan for reconstruction. They will not be able to put the implant in until I finish chemotherapy, probably in the spring, so no fair laughing while I am lopsided. I do seem to be developing a bit of a gallows sense of humor, as you can tell!

One last trip allowed, so I am off to tomorrow to Nashville for my committee meeting, back on Wednesday, and try to get all caught up on Thursday. On Friday I am going to Flintstone, MD for a Casting for Recovery retreat. Most of you know that I was a participant on this retreat last year, where ladies that have had breast cancer go out and learn to fly fish. They have turned into a great support group for me, and I am now "paying it forward" by volunteering for the next group. So I will be up in Flintstone until Sunday, and will come back with Bert, who will come and help teach one-on-one for one of the ladies on Sunday, when the ladies head out to fish on the Potomac. I was supposed to leave early Sunday to fly to Seattle, but since I had to cancel my trip I can now stay for the whole retreat. Mean ol' doctors won't let me on a long flight before surgery.

Hope this nice weather holds, and next weekend is as nice as this one while we are out fishing.
